In conclusion, the main idea of big brother was to restrict and manipulate everything that the citizens of Oceania thought and felt. Although everything was controlled, or thought to be controlled by “Big Brother”, three things that were especially focused on in the novel were the language, society and marriage life, and the society’s effect on it’s citizens.
