Abolition was the legal end of slavery. In 1820’s most of our society supported that Africans be shifted back to Africa how they wished too. But about 1,400 African Americans considered American their home, but all of those people were free. In 1831, William Lloyd Garrison started his own newspaper called “ The Liberator” in which he wrote about setting slaves free, without any payments to slaveholders. slavery by using the Holy Bible. Slaver owners argued about that, and in fact it was an advantage for the African Americans. By 1830’s the majority of people approved that slavery and Christianity could coexist. And slave owners wanted happy slaves. And when slaves became too old to work they would be cared for till death. Finally, the existence of slavery persistently refused to vanish and it turned into aggression. And it alienated the nation.
