Columbia or 20th Century Fox have the resources to make big budget films, hire stars, and heavily market their product. The independent companies have little chance to grow because film makers are immediately lured to the major studios following a successful film. This essentially puts them back to ‘square one’, as small fish sharing a pond with some very big sharks.
