Beowulf: Epic Hero Throughout most literature, biblical, cultural, or mythological, stories are told of heroes performing impossible feats in amazing ways, with strengths not known to common people. In Beowulf, the main character very much fulfills the qualities of the epic hero: battling the forces of evil, incredible strength, and supernatural powers. His strength, help from above, and good fortune show he is an epic hero. Beowulf’s battle for good over Grendel, awesome strength, and help from supernatural sources provide evidence that he is, in fact, and epic hero. While not as well known as others, such as Hercules and Odysseus, he is one nonetheless.
