Purpose of a Motion Day
The purpose of a motion day is to allow the courts to hear certain types of issues on one day to create a speedy flow in the management of cases. In other words, the judges' dockets and peoples' motions are heard in a cohesive order which allows for efficient management of cases and can improve cost effectiveness. Not only did he address the problems at hand, he also made his ruling very personal to the defendant; he made it known this was a chance of a lifetime and the defendant best use it wisely. Surprisingly, I agreed wholeheartedly with the judge's rulings in all of the cases I witnessed and they all retain the traits I deem to be essential for a judge.
