Although quite a bit different, the movie really does keep the essence of the book. It did organize the thoughts into what would make a better flowing story. It made the feeling of a child’s disparity toward wanting the perfect Christmas gift apparent and was the focus of the movie. Both formats are equally enjoyable, but thanks to some of the changes made in the movie, it has become a Christmas classic.
