Most widely known for his short stories and poems, Edgar Allan Poe was born in Boston on January 19, 1809. Edgar's real parents died when he was three. He gets angry and demands the bird to leave. When the bird remains, the narrator says it's cast a shadow upon his soul. Poe's feeling of Virginia's inevitable death is most likely the muse for this piece, along with many other pieces, including "Annabel Lee".
