Oscar thinks Paul is lucky because he says, “ but, poor devil, poor devil, he’s best gone out of a life where he rides his rocking-horse to find a winner” (par. 244). Oscar in these last few words shows that Paul is lucky. Oscar shows more compassion for Paul than anyone else in this last sentence of “The Rocking-Horse Winner.”
