In conclusion, in the book Flowers for Algernon, Daniel Keyes gives the reader an excellent insight into the life of a mentally retarded person. Although the end for Charlie was disappointing, it is understood. The author awakens a level of sympathy and an exceptional empathy in the reader for Charlie Jordan, who is always a victim but struggles till the end for self-respect and acceptance from society.
