The monster’s only purpose is to fit into society. After he repeatedly fails (See above themes for details), his only goal is revenge upon his creator. Paradoxically, his very existence is revenge enough, and both man and beast are destroyed in the process. Frankenstein dies while pursuing the monster, and the monster goes off to die in the ice when he realizes that he no longer has a purpose.
