SIGMUND FREUD Sigismund Schlomo Freud was born on May 6, 1856, in what is now Pribor in the Czech Republic. When he was 21 he shortened his name to Sigmund. His parents were Jewish, Jacob and Amalia. Freud’s house in England later became the site of “The Sigmund Freud Museum” in 1971. Some praised Freud, while others held vastly different views, but however you look at him and his theories he was ground breaking in the field of psychology and psychiatry.
