toward the U.S., brought out Jay's Treaty in 1795, which settled outstanding American
differences with Britain. Washington retired to Mount Vernon, where on December 14, 1799, he died.
As you can see George Washington has had a very busy and important life. He was the first president and
a heroic commander in numerous battles.
