“Ironies in Trifles”
“Trifles is a very interesting play to read. There are many symbols in the play, written by
Susan Glaspell. Four particular ones come to mind when I think of “Trifles”.
The overall play was about a woman driven to kill her husband. One of the symbols is
the way she kills him. Mrs. Peter said, “ It must have been done awful crafty and still”.

the ladies bond they had, because it was
like a knot itself, they were sticking together no matter what.
The symbols tell the readers a lot about Mr. and Mrs. Wright and their relationship. Each
of the symbols is what makes this play so interesting. It makes you want to keep reading hoping
to find more of them so you can get a greater understanding of just what kind of relationship the Wright’s had.
