With the Taj Mahal and the Great Mosque at Cordoba it is evident that the surface embellishment has an impact on the observers perception. This embellishment would not give the desired effect if Moslem architects did not incorporate the ornamentation with the structure of the building to give an overall effect that we now know as Islamic architecture.
