Biography Johann Sebastian Bach was born on March 21, 1685 in Eisenach, Thuringia. Thuringia is a central province of Germany. He was born into a family that had a history and a future of prominent composers. Johann Ambrosius, a town musician and father to Johann Sebastian, was the first to get Bach interested in music.
