After I read this novel, I understood pretty much about Okonkwo’s society because I am a part of “International”. I am not too old to have a colonial experience but I learned and felt so many things about colonial history through classes from elementary school to university because Korea is also a suffered country from colonialism under Japan periodically. Finally, I think this novel describes well about colonialism different from other European portraits of native Africans because the author is also a part of them. Okonkwo is a tragic hero of his people. So, I can feel how much his people suffered through the new religion and government from colonialist by his precise description about relationship between native Africans and church which is a part of colonialists.
