Marcus Ulpius Trajanus

117 A.D. His body was taken to Seleucia to be cremated. His ashes were then carried back to Rome and were placed in a golden urn into the base of Trajan’s Column’.
Overall Trajan possessed a true sense of dignity and humility, making him an emperor of true virtue in the eyes of the Romans. His reign was near perfect and many emperors tried unsuccessfully to live up to Trajan’s example.
