Mary I was born in 1516 into the Tudor dynasty of England. She was the daughter of King Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon. She was the only surviving child from her parent’s marriage. The reign of Mary Tudor did not provide England with leadership it needed at a time of chaos in the church. King Henry VIII is partly responsible for Mary’s failure as queen because his reformation focused exclusively on politics and not religion. Mary Tudor I died in London on November 17, 1558, and was succeeded by a magnificent queen in Elizabeth I.
