Measuring A Quasar’s Redshift
Objective- The objective of this lab exercise is to measure the redshift of a quasar.
Inquiries-
22-1a- To find the number of angstroms per millimeter on the photograph I have to do a simple couple of calculations. First, I measured between line 3889 and line 6030. Conclusion- In completion of this Lab I was able to determine that the average redshift value was .159 in wavelength change. I also determined from the previous calculation that the Quasars velocity relative to the speed of light was approx. .336 to 2.336.
Overall this lab was fairly detailed and required many calculations.
