One can concluded there are many reasons that Minister Hooper wears the black veil. He greatly desires to show the townspeople the concept of secret sin, to act almost as a Christ-like figure, and believes that secret sin is a veil on everyone’s life and can never be lifted from anyone’s face and soul until the day they die. These beliefs and wishes explain Minister Hooper’s reasoning for wearing the black veil.
