For their own reasons, Canterbury and the other churchmen are encouraging Henry to invade France. Canterbury even beseeches Henry to “unwind your bloody flag:” It therefore seems as though stealing is acceptable as long as it is sanctioned by religion. Henry’s other dubious moral choices shall be looked at later on in the essay.
