His large academic canvas Science and Charity depicted a doctor, a nun, and a child at a sick woman’s bedside, won a gold medal. One of Picasso’s most famous works was “Guernica” his vision of the Spanish Civil war. Guernica was bombed by the Facist forces in 1937. Picasso reflects his country and its people by representing the pain and suffering experienced during the Spanish civil War. HE died in Mougins, France on April 8, 1973
