A Critical Book Review
This paper is a report containing a summery and my own opinion of the novel “Pedagogy
of the Oppressed” by Paulo Freire. It is a well-written manifesto for the liberation of oppressed
people everywhere. It speaks of love, unity, and knowledge as vital to creating a world of
freedom; an end to the dialectical struggle of oppression and liberation. Freire has had a beautiful

enlightening. I believe his criticisms of the banking education system to be valid, having
experienced it myself. I believe that implementation of education as mutual learning for all in the
form of discussion is an excellent way to build confidence and intelligence in people. I will take
what I have learned in this book to heart, for it has taught me much, though I must admit that I
too am afraid of liberation.
