Personification
Personification is when you give an object, animal or concepts human abilities making them able to cry, talk think, feel etc.
Personification is closely related to metaphors. Personifications are used to give an objective description, which is given trough an object.
An example could be Sylvia Plath’s poem “ mirror”
I am silver and exact. I have no preconceptions.
Whatever I see I swallow immediately
Just as is, unmisted by love or dislike.

thrown her baby into it. The lake can feel the helplessness the woman express each day she comes to look down to the water and only see her own aging face.
The lake does not judge, does not condemn – does not take say what is right or wrong – it just observe – like a human being also would be able to do. The lake has been made alive and can talk. The lake has been personified.
