a strong role in Romeo and Juliet, both the movie and the play develop the theme of doomed love. The play shows this through premonitions of tragedy and fate, whereas the movie portrays an accidental chain of events that lead to tragedy. Luhrmann genuinely does a great adaptation from play to film and manages to create a movie that is remarkably faithful to the play's vision and sense of tragedy without drastically changing the play.
