Since love suicides are seen as noble in Japanese culture, Tokubei and Ohatsu’s actions were regarded as noble and brave. Further more, they increased the beauty of the suicide by tying themselves tightly to a tree so when they died, they would look perfect. Although not born of noble parentage, Tokubei and Ohatsu demonstrate great nobility of action, which is what Aristotle considers truly noble.
