RUMIÑAHUI He was called by the Spanish conquerors Ruminagui, Irruminabi or Orominabi. According to some colonial historians Rumiñahui was Huayna Capac's son in an Ati, which was a lineage of Quito. Struggle for independence was not a new thing for an Ati, who had accompanied Atahualpa. When he saw Atahualpa defeated and all the vassals running away, he came back home, in order to organize a warlike defense.
