The article I read, “Iran’s President Trying to Limit Power of Clergy”, was about President Khatami wanting more power in his country than he has at the moment. Right now in Iran, the church controls just about everything including television and newspapers. President Khatami thinks that he has the right to make more important decisions in his country than he is able to now. In Iran there is a religious panel called the Guardian

separation of church and state and there is less possibility regarding issues on people’s religions, and that makes America a better environment because we have enough problems as it is. If Khatami’s demands were met I think that that would leave Iran with less problems to deal with, not to mention the citizens of Iran would have a load lifted from their backs and would thereby have more democracy. They unquestionably need that.
