This I Confess to You In St. Augustine’s Confessions, Augustine writes his memoir in order to enlighten those whom read it. He knows God is consistently prepared to forgive those who have sinned and continue to sin, but Augustine is somewhat lending credence to the all-forgiving nature of the Almighty. Most importantly, by praising the qualities of God the Merciful, the Confessions leaves its readers safe in the knowledge that they, too, can be redeemed if they renounce the errors of the past and learn to embrace the Christian message.
