Tom Brokaw has suggested that those who lived through the Great Depression and World War II made up “The Greatest Generation” to date. I agree, but feel it important to analyze what makes up a Great Generation, to substantiate my opinion.
To date, they have been the Greatest Generation because the situation and circumstances they had to respond to required involvement of all people within that generation. It was a generation that distinguished itself from

ability to be greater, by preventing the current situation from rising to the scale of a world war. If the efforts of individuals, groups and the nation as a whole prevents that situation from escalating, history might not record that generation as being “The Greatest”, but it is my opinion that they will have been a “Greater Generation” as it is greater to prevent a catastrophe, than it is to have to deal with one.
