The first voice then comes back with six lines that agree with some of what the Wanderer has said (a man "must never too quickly unburden his breast" [l. 105]), but essentially changes the context of the Wanderer's words by introducing a plea to a Heavenly Father for mercy, with an implied assurance that the Father will watch over and protect his people. I don' think the Wanderer has much sense of being watched over.
