In conclusion, because Nathan plugged up the knot, the kids feel disappointed that they might’ve made friends with such a famous guy. Not only that, but it’s also important because it show how much Jem has grown. His feeling of justice and righteousness for both Boo and later on Tom Robinson might lead him to become a lawyer, just like his father.
