The Scottsboro trial had such a great effect on Harper Lee as a child that she went on to write about a court case just like it. The trial of the Scottsboro boys had a good ending but it doesn’t make up for their suffering throughout those seven years. The trial in To Kill a Mockingbird didn’t have a happy ending. All these African Americans suffered because of other people’s racist thoughts.
