Throughout this epic tale, Nathaniel is clearly the defined hero. His choices shifted the plot of the story. By choosing to take the three to Fort William Henry, Nathaniel through himself into a war he was trying to avoid from the begin. By choosing to stay with Cora, Nathaniel placed his brother and Father in jeopardy. Nathaniel’s thoughts and actions affected the lives of everyone around him.
