I found this issue particularly bothersome as I wanted to have the Baroque character yet the pieces seemed so boring without expression and dynamic. I ended up using quite a bit of dynamic in the prelude where it seemed appropriate and a lot of phrasing and balance in the fugue to bring out the theme.
